This year Qing Ming actual day is on 4 Apr 2016. It’s the day Chinese will clean their ancestor grave at the cemetery. Most Chinese do it 10 days before or 10 days after the actual day. Here is to share some information about Qing Ming praying, from the internet:
1. Prepare the correct type of items required for Qing Ming praying.
2. Before going to the cemetery, have to pray to the ancestor at home.
3. To wait for all family members to gather before going to cemetery to pray together.
4. Wears dark colour clothing and dress neatly.
5. Lady who is pregnant or not “convenient” may consider not to go to the cemetery.
6. Bring along a red packet with cash inside or auspicious item for self protection.
7. Avoid stepping on others’ tombs as a form of respect.
8. Do not walk bare footed, even when your shoes are dirty. Avoid “dirty” earth.
9. Pray to the “Earth” god first. Maintain silent and do not joke around.
10. Follow proper procedures in praying to ancestors, be solemn.
11. Put praying paper on top of the tomb means repairing ancestor rooftop.
12. To get rid of any plant growing on the tomb.
13. To repair any breaks on the tomb.
14. Best time of praying is between 8am to 3 pm.
15. Avoid taking photo.
16. To shake away earth sticking to your shoes before leaving the cemetery.
17. Wash your clothing upon reaching home.
18. Hot weather, remember to drink more water : )
